Bottoms Up

We all have our drink of choice, and are often afraid to dabble with anything else.  That's very understandable, stick with what you know.  But I'm going to let you in on several crowd favorites.  So go ahead and give some of these drinks a try if you're feeling a little risky or just want a change.  Be responsible and enjoy.
  • Brandy and Apple Juice - My preference is Paul Masson brandy and mostly any type of apple juice is good, as long as it has some sugar in it. When mixed just right, you don't taste the brandy, and not even the apple juice too much.
  • Rum and Apple Juice - My preference is Captain Morgan's rum, any type of apple juice as well. This mixes well together but you're going to taste the rum more so in this drink. It's bearable and tasty.
  • Rum and Coke - I know, this is a common drink, but if you don't drink dark, I'm sure you've never thought about trying it.  1 shot of Captain Morgan's and about 1/2 a can of Coke, you'll have a great drink on your hands. It's also a very good chaser. Chasing or mixing, the end result is the taste of Vanilla Coke, surprisingly enough. Don't believe me? Give it a try.
  • Coconut Ciroc and Pineapple Juice - I know, coconut does not sound tasty at all but with pineapple juice it's great! I'd assume any pineapple juice would do the job, but my go to is always Dole. The mix of it doesn't really matter because Ciroc is so smooth that you don't need to drown the taste out.
  • Red Berry Ciroc and Arizona Fruit Punch - It sounds very random, but it mixes quite well. The Arizona isn't that strong but it's just strong enough to drawn out any of the vodka taste you may get from the Ciroc.
  • Pinnacle Whipped and Vernors - Brought to me by our own A-Day, this is an amazing drink. Now don't let the name of Pinnacle fool you, Pinnacle Whipped (made to taste like whipped cream) is on a completely different level. Mixed with Vernors it tastes like a vanilla ice cream float. Although I saved the best for last, this should be at the top of your list of new drinks to try.

Canada!

Want to try something new and fun?  Tired of the same scenery your city's clubs/bars have to offer? Or do you just need a little getaway?  Well, a place to go to just get away from it all is our neighborly country, Canada.  Windsor, Ontario is a mere 20 minutes away from Detroit.  With easy access via the tunnel or the Ambassador Bridge, the only things between you and Canada are legal citizenship status, proper documents and a couple tolls.
Being of age for the nightlife of  Detroit, I personally feel that it gets old very quick.  I see the same things from club to club and I get tired of it all.  Windsor's nightlife is much more fresh and exciting.  Downtown Windsor is full of clubs, bars, and even strip clubs (for male and female).  Going on a weekend, you will find drink specials, no cover bars, minimal to free cover clubs, and even club promoters that will get you in for free.  How can you beat that?  Just like in the States (get hip, that's what the cool people call the United States), things don't start jumping off until around 11 or 12 o'clock.  But the better thing about that is that the clubs don't close until 3am, for all you party animals out there.
You will meet some of the nicest people while you're out partying.  No worrying about too many fights, anyone pulling a gun/knife/etc, or having to fight someone with a friend because a person got mad they accidentally bumped into them.  The locals will more than happily recommend a tasty food joint for you to hit when everything lets out, and possibly even if there's any after parties going on.  And if partying isn't your cup of tea, you can definitely go out to a nice lounge, the Caesar Windsor casino, or just take in the beautiful view that Detroit's skyline has to offer.
There are quite a few hotels in the downtown area, within walking distance of the restaurants, fast food, convenience stores, and all of the clubs.  From the inexpensive, trusty Travelodge to the pricey but lavish Hilton, there is a hotel on the strip that will accommodate you.

3 Tips To Remember:
  1. Take the bridge over.  There's a duty-free (no tax) shop that you can get into if you stay to the right. Unbelievably cheap liqour prices.
  2. Don't Drive Drunk. A) It's irresponsible as hell.  B) Officers do random checks on the road.  C) Police headquarters is only minutes away from the main strip.
  3. If you're from the States, and more specifically Detroit, you own them with your coolness.

Fall Time

We're back at it again! And one of the hottest current topics I can bring you alongside music and movies is...this Fall season.  If you don't know why, let me enlighten you.  Fall brings to us the hoody/sweats weather that so many like; the peaceful apple orchards; and what many kids today like to call "cuffing season".  Now if you're like me, I'm sure you just got annoyed by those two words, but there is definitely something there that catches the eye.
The weather is usually nice and peaceful in the Fall time.  Not scorching hot like the summer and not nearly as cold as the winter.  It's the perfect medium to just cuddle up in your comfortable clothes.  If you haven't been shopping yet, make sure you snatch up some hoodies and sweatpants so you don't miss out on the Fall feel.
Two words EVERYONE should implant in their brains during the Fall: Apple. Orchards.  Apple orchards are truly great for any age - I know many young adults are thinking how in the hell is an apple orchard for me?! But just bare with me.  Little kids love apple orchards.  They can run and jump around and pick apples.  Tire them suckers out for nap time.  Old people like them because....well, do I really need to give you reasons?  I'm sure they're just enjoying what time they have to do these small things.  And my generation?  We benefit the most.  PERFECT place to take a woman on a first, random or special date.  Cool enough for a little polite touching (let's keep it PG) like holding hands, arm around the shoulder, or you could even be a little more chivalrous and lend her your jacket.
  1. Inexpensive
  2. Food/snacks
  3. APPLES
  4. Peaceful/INTIMATE enviroment
And to save the best for last: Cuffing Season [insert laughs here].  The cooler weather brings the feeling of wanting to be with someone; and every year, it never fails.  When it gets down to it, that's what people want.  The Fall time is when everyone mututally feels that way and wants to have someone there to cuddle up with.  And if where you are is anything like this Michigan weather, those rainy days can really put a damper on being alone.
So throw on some sweats, keep a cuddle buddy on standby, grab some carmel apples and enjoy your Fall.

Personal Favorites

This might just be my favorite post. Another list, but a list we can all relate to.
MY TOP 5 DRINKS!!!
Starting at #5.

#5. ICB (Irish Car Bombs). Awwwwwwwwwwww damn. St. Pattys Day was great. Well it's something like this. Some Baileys, some Jameson, And Guiness all mixed together. Make sure once its made you chug it right away. The end result however... Chocolate MILK.

#4. Svedka & Orange Hawaiian punch. Always a go to drink when funds are limited or trying to just chill and drink. Although I haven't had it in a while I have had the craving for it lately. Good times with this drink as well.

#3. Patron. "Patron Patron Cmon Cmon I drink till i start talkin to the bottle" - Royce Da 5'9"... Hes right though. Christopher and I had the pleasure of taking shots of this for the low low in Canada. Ever since that trip I have been craving it.

#2. Bacardi Torch & Kool-Aid. This is a little A-Day Da Name & Tha Real Rodrigoo special. The first college house party I threw, my dear friend David and I killllllled this. Mixed it up and downed it. People were looking at us all night because we wouldn't share. But hey, BYOB.

#1. This is a no brainer if you know me. Red Berry CIROC!!!!! damn I love this drink. Not only do I feel like a fukkin baller when I buy it, but it goes down like water, and usually leads to a great night. When my homie SB Tha Ghost mixes Cranberry & Orange Juice with it... Just know Its going to be a gooooood night.

Also a runner up was Fred's favotite. 1800. Nasty ass.

They Say Im Under-Rated

Back to the grind with these 25 below posts. Here goes something I have been pondering on for quite a while. I love making top 10 lists, it always stirs up a good debate over opinions. So here is my top 10 most under-rated rappers.

#10. Ab-Soul. Listen to Longterm 2: Lifestyles Of The Broke & Almost Famous. Anyone who hears this will agree with this #10 selection

#9. DOOM.(MF Doom) One of my favorite rappers of all time yet I never hear his name being brought up in the greatest. Maybe its the off-flow, well, people need to get past that. The man with the mask will shit on every rapper lyrically.

#8. Elzhi. Detroits very own is also a slept on MC. I fell in love with Elzhi's wordplay my senior year of high school. I could not stop listening to The Preface. Great, Classic album.

#7. Fashawn. After meeting this man I realized he may be the most determined and hungry artist in the game. He is down for his fans and loves to have a convo about music any day of the week. Boy Meets World... Another classic album.

#6. Freddie Gibbs. Gangsta Gibbs HOE. The Gary Indiana rapper is one of the hardest yet most lyrical artists ive heard in a long long time. I was very suspect to his music at first. Then realized Gibbs is a definite headphone listen rapper, just to obtain all the lyrics. But definitely BANGS in the whip.

#5. Vinnie Paz. From his work with JMT to his solo album, Paz is hands down the best underground artist. Selling out overseas to have mosh crowds in the states, JMT is a movement. I am highly anticipating the new JMT release this year Violence Begets Violence.

#4. Tech N9ne. As many great albums this man has had, he is just getting the mainstream recognition. It took Tha Carter IV to make people realize this man is a genius. Tech has been on his grind for years and has a die hard fan base maintains support throughout his career.

#3. Chip Tha Ripper. It took me a while to finally listen to The Cleveland Show, but when I did I realized this artist can spit. Chip has tracks for every situation of life. Hopefully we get an album soon to make people believe the hype and his skills.

#2. Big Boi. Through all the success the ATLien has had I feel he still doesn't get the credit he deserves. He gets out shined by an artist who puts out one verse every other year. Although I love Andre 3000, Big Boi has made classic albums, verses and features in his lifetime.

#1. Saigon. The yard father, Sai-Giddy, Or my favorite rapper right now. Sai has to be the most under rated rapper. The content in songs, phenomenal wordplay and story telling is all you need in an artist, and Sai delivers to the fullest. Lets just say "The Greatest Story Never Told" cannot be topped this year. It was well worth the wait, and the wait turned out to be classic material.

Choices

I Have been asking people this question for a while now and it is a very difficult one to answer. BUT, if you had to listen to one album for the rest of your life, what would it be?

A-Day Says:

The Black Album. Possibly one of my favorite albums of all time. Every track on this album just has a beautiful image to it, and Hova's lyrics are not to be touched by any artist. Lets not forget either that the production was phenomenal on this project.

What album would you listen to the rest of your life?
